DMCA and Copyright Notices

SolSoft respects copyright. This page explains how to report content you believe infringes yours, and how those reports are handled.

What this site does and does not host

SolSoft is a review and download blog. It does not host the software programs it writes about; download links point to developers’ own sites or other external sources. The material SolSoft itself publishes is limited to reviews, guides, screenshots, and similar editorial content. If you believe something SolSoft published, or a link it provides, infringes your copyright, you can file a takedown notice as described below.

How to file a takedown notice

Send a written notice through the contact form or the email address listed on the site. To be actionable, your notice needs to include:

• Your name and contact details, and whether you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner.
• A clear description of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed.
• The exact URL or URLs on solsoft.org where the material appears, specific enough that it can be found.
• A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law.
• A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act.
• Your physical or electronic signature.

What happens next

Once a complete and valid notice arrives, I review it and, where the claim is reasonable, remove or disable access to the material promptly, usually within a few business days. Incomplete notices may be delayed while I ask for the missing details.

Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice. Include your contact details, identify the material that was removed and where it appeared, and add a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed in error, along with your signature. Depending on the situation the material may be restored.

A note on links

Because SolSoft links to files hosted elsewhere, the fastest fix for infringing software is often a notice to the site that actually hosts the file. I will still act on links here when a valid notice names them, and I will point you to the host when I can.
